Modern classrooms, studios, and workspaces will open at Penn State Abington in August 2026.
Seventeen new classrooms, four laboratories, art studios, and student support areas will make their debut in the fall 2026 when Penn State Abington's new academic building opens. The modern learning and collaborative workspaces will help prepare students for careers in a rapidly evolving, global workforce.
According to Chancellor Gary Liguori, the three-story building will play a role beyond providing additional square footage and fresh spaces — it will have a broad and deep impact on the Abington experience.
“This site will become a hub of academic excellence where the leaders of tomorrow will be shaped and where pressing issues facing our society will be deliberated while preparing our students for careers. It will cut across disciplines and help us continue to build out our community of scholars,” he said.
"This investment demonstrates how deeply committed we are to helping students learn, grow, and thrive in the world. I like to think of this new building as our crown jewel — its thoughtful design affords us greater opportunities to connect with our neighbors and maintain the character of the stunning neighborhood that we are privileged to call home,” Dr. Liguori added.
Margo DelliCarpini, the vice president for Commonwealth Campuses and executive chancellor, said the building will allow for the growth of exciting and cutting-edge degree programs at Abington.
“Our students advocated for the new building, and this is their legacy. It will benefit generations of Penn State Abington students to come,” she said.
Dr. DelliCarpini credited previous chancellors, Abington Township officials, University colleagues, neighbors and the campus community for providing “innovative opportunities for students and strengthened partnerships with the community.”
The campus community, supporters, alumni, and local and regional partners gathered to break ground on the new academic building, which is scheduled to open in fall 2026.
